It's All About Me: helping young people understand who they are

A guided journey that helps students recognise their strengths, explore future possibilities and turn growing self-awareness into a clearer sense of direction for education, work and life.

A journey of self-understanding and direction

It’s All About Me is a guided self-development programme and living document that grows with the student. It is designed for young people who would benefit from understanding themselves more clearly before making important choices about education and the future. Through reflection, exploration and supported planning, students can recognise their strengths, express their ambitions and take a more active role in shaping what comes next.

Four steps that grow with the student

The journey moves through four connected steps. Each asks a simple but important question, helping the student move from understanding who they are towards recognising how they have grown.

  1. 1

    Me I AM

    Understand who you are now

Explore the experiences, strengths, values, interests and needs that make you who you are, without reducing your identity to a label or result.

  2. 2

    Me I WANNABE

Imagine who you want to become

Consider the life, learning and work that could feel meaningful, giving yourself space to explore different possibilities before deciding on a direction.

  3. 3

    Me I'M GONNA BE

    Turn possibility into a plan

Identify the choices, skills, experiences and support that could move you forward, turning broad ambitions into steps that feel practical and achievable.

  4. 4

    Me EVOLVED

    Recognise how you have grown

Reflect on your progress, notice what has changed and allow new strengths, questions and possibilities to shape the next version of your journey.

In practice

From reflection to meaningful action

It’s All About Me gives students a structured way to think about questions that can otherwise feel overwhelming. Instead of asking for an immediate answer about the future, the programme breaks self-understanding and planning into clearer stages. Each stage helps the student explore what matters, recognise patterns and connect their ideas to possible next steps.

The young person is an active participant throughout. Their own perspective sits at the centre, supported by thoughtful guidance and conversation. The living document records what they discover, making it easier to revisit earlier thinking, notice change and build on ideas over time.

The aim is not to produce a perfect plan. It is to help the student develop the language, confidence and self-awareness needed to make more informed choices about their education, personal development and future direction.

Over time

A living document, not a fixed answer

Young people change as they gain experience, discover new interests and understand themselves more fully. It’s All About Me is designed to change with them. Earlier ideas can be revisited, new possibilities can be added and goals can be refined when circumstances or ambitions develop.

The four steps are connected rather than sealed-off stages. A student may return to Me I AM after recognising a new strength, reconsider Me I WANNABE when a new possibility emerges or adjust Me I’M GONNA BE as they learn what a chosen direction requires.

Me EVOLVED is not a final destination. It creates a moment to recognise progress and ask what the student understands now that they did not understand before. In this way, the document becomes a record of development as well as a practical tool for shaping the next part of the journey.
